All Of A Sudden...
The car world has woken up.
The Week In Cars
It’s been quiet for a while, but just as Car Week starts, car news starts back up, too.
This is what’s been announced, and a few other thoughts too.
Just before the official announcement, the replacement for the Lamborghini Huracan was leaked by bradyv12awesome on Instagram.
In reality, the car will be dramatic, but in general (and as an ex-Lamborghini owner), I think their cars are less exciting than they used to be.
Do you agree?
BMW has also officially launched the M5 Touring.
Starting at £112,500, I think it’s worth a look and will further hurt M3 Touring used car prices, as it’s potentially more usable with the hybrid power unit and extra size.
The car is definitely aggressive, and I like an estate over a saloon, but I think it’s very colour-sensitive.
Although I have not driven one of the standard cars or this new Touring, I must be convinced it is enough of an M car over the other fast and usable new BMW 5 series.
Another week means that there’s another “special” Rolls Royce.
This time, it’s called Phantom Scintilla Private Collection, and they say it’s a tribute to the Spirit of Ecstacy.
This car's wheel design is interesting.
It mimics some of the flat-faced versions used by modifiers, especially in LA, and complements the car's understated colour.
And with just ten of these cars using the extended wheelbase platform, I doubt they will struggle to find buyers.
A Monterey Car Week launch this week was the Battista Targamerica by Pininfarina.
It’s a one-off car commissioned by a collector and owner of another “normal” Battista.
In My Opinion…
The UK car market is dropping, and dealers are feeling the “pinch.”
This social media post from a dealer in Bournemouth is a great example.
I’m often asked who I follow on Instagram, so here are some car people I watch.
Let me know who you follow, as I’m always looking to get my petrolhead fix.
Thanks again for being part of this community.
Also, watch over the weekend, especially on those social media channels I’ve shared, to see what’s been spotted at Monterey Car Week.
